A unique abrasion resistant chromium-carbide overlay on a mild steel base plate. It is designed for areas with moderate impact and severe abrasion. This plate can be cut, formed, or rolled. Our unique overlaying process produces a plate with a surface that is harder, tougher, and more wear resistant than plate made by any other process.
Our Cladded Wear plate is ideal for extreme wear applications, high temperature environments, and corrosive problems. They are not only resistant to wear, but also provide a high level of impact resistance.
Hardness
The combination of high chrome and high carbon creates hard chromium carbide crystals that reach 600 BHN.
Impact Strength
The mild steel base plate acts as a cushion to absorb impact. Chromium Carbide overlay can withstand severe impact from falling materials. While the hard overlay surface may crack, a strong, deep weld bond to the base material will prevent the overlay from separating from the base plate under impact.
Cutting
Overlay can be cut with plasma, laser, and water jet.
Machining
The overlay surface is not machinable. However, Kotlyn, Inc. can provide Overlay with countersink holes and tapped holes.
Forming
Overlay can be cold formed or rolled. The recommended radius should be greater than 20 times the thickness of the plate.
Welding
Overlay can be welded on the mild steel base plate surface using standard carbon steel electrodes such as 7018. Stoody .045 wire can be used on the Overlay.
